Frank's Kitchen

588 College Street
Toronto, ON

My sister and I recently took my mom to Frank's Kitchen for her birthday dinner, my sister visited Frank's a while back and wouldn't stop raving about it. This intimate restaurant is located in Little Italy, they try to make everything from scratch which includes the complimentary bread with tomato & olive spread.

After ordering we received a complimentary amuse bouche, pea volute with creme friache and fresh peas.

We ordered two appetizers, the first one was the daily special; deep-fried soft shell crab with a light side salad. Perfectly crisp, light in flavour and so summery.

The second app we got was the Lobster Ravioli. The pasta is handmade in house and the ravioli was packed with lobster, so delicious. The sauce is a tomato based with fresh basil and olive oil.

I got the St. Jacob's Pork Trio consisting of pork chop, pork belly and pork lion with a piece of crispy pork crackling. My favourite was the chop and belly, so moist and tender.

My mom got the Kobe beef short ribs. The meat was so tender like melt-in-your-mouth tender. The Asian slaw was a night accompaniment to the rich meat and the incredibly crispy onion rings.

My sister got the catch of the day which was probably the best dish of the night. A piece of fish, seared scallop, fish croquet and baked clam with a lobster sauce. It was SO good!

For dessert we got the Plum Tartin with Chai tea ice cream and caramel sauce. It was a great way to end the meal, the caramel was a nice touch of sweetness to the somewhat tart plums.

I honestly can say I haven't such a great meal in a long time and I'm already trying to plan my next visit. Frank's Kitchen is the perfect restaurant for date night or even a catch up session with some friends.
